Director, Dropout Prevention / Alternative Education.
The Director seeks to collaborate with the district's schools and departments to create, implement and support curricular and program design (including: under-achieving youth, youth involved in the Juvenile Justice or Criminal Court system, Teen Parents, and Foster Care children) aimed at facilitating students’ earning high school diplomas. In order to accomplish this, the Director must work closely with schools to provide leadership that is challenging, integrative and exploratory, reflecting the nature and needs of our youth. Prior to that, I was Director, Middle Schools. This allowed me to apply my understanding of adolescent development to processes and programs which move students on a trajectory of social/emotional growth. I have been an administrator and a teacher in diverse circumstances.
I have developed and implemented a wide range of programs that were designed to create cultural sensitivity, awareness and enhanced student achievement. I created the District’s BASIS system, which is the student support services electric system to capture disciplinary events (Discipline Management System), bullying events (Bullying Management System) and a response to intervention Risk Management System. |
